CAMEROON AIRLINES B707 OPERATIONS in the 70s
The flag carrier of the Cameroon republic was founded on 26/07/1971. Before its creation, all flights, domestic and international , were operated by the legendary Air Afrique, the multi-national airline of Africa. Sensing that its needs were not fully met and wanting to establish its own airline , The Cameroonese government withdrew from Air Afrique in January 1971.
The Boeing 707 leased from Air France was entered in service in 1971, on the company’s service to Paris and Rome. UY will operate 4 Boeing 707 during the 70s (see table below), |

until replaced in 1981 with a Boeing 747-200 Combi. The company ordered a new Boeing 707 from Boeing TJ-CAA “ La Sanaga” and delivered to UY on November 20, 1972.

Cameroon Airlines operated 3 weekly flights to Paris as shown below :
UY 74 Douala-Marseilles-Paris
UY 72 Douala-Rome-Paris
UY 70 Douala -Paris
In 1976, Geneva will be added to the network as an extension of the Doula-Rome segment (Douala-Rome-Geneva-Paris).
The winter 1979/80 timetable does not show significant expansion of the operations of the 707. Cameroon Airlines operated a Douala-Rome-Geneva-Paris once weekly, Douala-Marseilles-Paris once weekly and thrice weekly services Douala-Paris as illustrated in the map below

London Gatwick will be added in the winter timetable 1981/82 operating once weekly through Rome and the Boeing 707 operations will be replaced gradually ,as written earlier,by TC-CAB a B747-200 delivered to Cameroon Airlines on February 2, 1981
