Holiday Loot 2013, Part 2: Wargaming

I'm hijacking Lindsay's PC to post this because mine is broken, so it may say +Lindsay Law created this post, but it's not the case. I'm not Lindsay. Honest.

Anyway, this is the first year every member of our family received some models to paint. In previous years, Lori was too young. She begged for miniatures of her own ever since Josie received some as a birthday present a year and a half ago, but has always been refused. This Christmas, she finally had her wish granted, all thanks to Santa.

This is the second part of our Holiday Loot gaming posts. The first covered board games, this one covers wargaming, and the last will cover video games.

So, what wargaming goodness did we receive this year?

Well, we all received a little something, which was nice. Thanks, Santa.

Let's start with Lori. She was so pleased to have some models of her own she squealed with glee. What did she get? The obvious first step, that's what.

Warhammer Paint Set

Yup, the Warhammer paint set. Inside, there are 5 High Elves for her to practice painting, which is pretty much perfect, because if she decides she likes them, we have a few High Elves to spare. The High Elf army does have cats of a sort involved, so it may interest her.
As for Josie, her hobbying needs weren't ignored by Santa, either. Unfortunately for her, Games Workshop currently offers little in the way of Wood Elfs she doesn't already own, but there was something she could use.

Great Eagles
Great Eagles! Yes! They will do just perfectly for Jo's Wood Elf army. She can use them as, well, Great Eagles! Damn, it's almost like Workshop stole the idea from Tolkien or something.

Unfortunately for me, there was no extras for my Empire army, but I did get a few goodies, one of which was rather big and awesome. But, let's discuss the smaller presents I received first.

Chaos Black Undercoat
Okay, some spray. Hardly interesting. Let's move on. Still, I needed some -- so, thanks, Santa, I suppose.

More interesting was the other paint I received.

Special Effect Paints
Oooo. Special-effect, technical painty stuff! Yayzers! These are rather spiffy extras that I've been keen to try, and now I can, so all's good.

But even better is this bad boy.
Fortified Manor

This is a biggun. Looks very awesome. Come the New Year, I'll be putting this one together. But, for the moment, it will have to wait until all the Crimbo decorations are down, because they get in the way.

Now for Lindsay's gifts. Where Josie, Lori, and I didn't receive much for our armies, Lindsay was in a very different position. She received more than all of us combined. First up is a new general model for her Dark Elf army.

Dark Elf Fleetmaster
Sweet model, and it fits her Corsair-themed army perfectly. She'll enjoy painting that one, I think.

To support the Fleetmaster, she also received some of the funkiest Dark Elf models there are: Witch Elves.

Witch Elves
Awesome unit, and one I know she's looking forward to tackling. They're also a terror on the battlefield, so there's a whole lot of win there. For her. Not for me.

Hmm.

But it only get's worse, because she also received this:

Cauldron of Blood
Oh, balls. Santa, what were you thinking? Seriously, Lindsay does not need one of these things! How the hell am I supposed to face that?

:'(

Unimpressed, Santa.

So, that's all the wargaming this year--

Actually, no! Wait! I also received some dice! Hardly that exciting, but I'll end my post with the two dice sets I received.

So, first, a cube of Slaanesh dice:

Pearly D6s. Not very Slaaneshi
I was correct. Not exciting at all. Or very Slaaneshi. These dice were better:

Steampunk-dice-tastic
Quite like those. Characterful.

And, with that, we're done with wargaming for another year.

Get any wargaming goodies yourself this year?

The next post will cover all our videogaming loot.
