| most sites are occupied by permanent residents |
After purchasing a two and half year old Jayco Journey and spending about two weeks tinkering with it parked on our front verge we finally took it out to Mandurah Caravan Park which is about 100k's south from us in Perth.

The park was well run and very clean. But we were surprised how close the lots are to each other - much more private in our own front verge! We arrived after the park's office closed at 6:30pm. Luckily a friendly Scottish retiree by the name of Tom helped us park. Powered sites are at $40 per night.

As we had dinner before we set out, I enjoyed sitting in the caravan with the lights dimmed out and meditating on the peace of it a little.
The big eye-opener for us is that most caravan parks have plenty of permanent residents. Mostly elderly people but also working people and single people.

| Till now I hadn't realised there are huge park-home communities throughout Australia, just like in the US |
When we first started looking at caravans with the thought of exploring big and side Australia we did not quite realise how congested Caravan Parks can be.
I hope the caravan parks further from the city will have bigger sites.
